The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions that have followed has highlighted to the Board that our communication to members and the community was limited and an easily accessible website was needed. Not everyone is on Facebook or has access to emails, but with technology today most people have a child, grandchild, sibling or friend who can access the internet from their phone, tablet or ipad.
So, through the support and funding of the Baw Baw Shire welcome to Trafalgar Bowls Club new website.
I would like to acknowledge our gratitude to the Baw Baw Shire for their support of this project, previous projects and hopefully future projects, they have supported this Club for many years, thank you Baw Baw Shire Council.
Of course the website is at its early stages, and with the lockdown still needs to be populated to provide the information that everyone is looking for. Features will include; team news and fixtures, events, updates, ability to order and pay for membership and club merchandise on-line, links to our Facebook page and the ability to make contact.
To ensure that the website is up to date and at its most informative we need members and community ideas and suggestions of what should be included. We would also like volunteers to keep the website updated. Training and mentoring is available so if you are interested please let us know.
Latest update on the operations of the Club
Due to COVID-19 restrictions we are currently closed. The Accountants have audited our books for 2019 - 2020 and produced the Annual Report. Of course we cannot hold our AGM until the restrictions will allow every member to have the opportunity to attend, so the Board and all Committees will remain as is until such time we can hold an AGM and conduct the nomination and voting process.
Scott Jones, our green keeper, is leaving the Club to join Newborough Bowling Club. Scott has served our Club well since 2004 and his last working day will be 23 September 2020. We thank him for his great service to the Club and wish him and his family well in his new venture.
The renovations to the Club are not far from completion. With thanks to the funding support of the Latrobe Valley Authority Community and Facility Fund we now have a disabled toilet facility, renovated the Gents Toilet, work on access and egress ramps and new external doors should be completed by 7 September 2020 and new carpet should be laid shortly thereafter. The new look to the Club will be inviting and inclusive to everyone. A special thank you to Debbie Darnell from Latrobe Valley Authority for guiding us through the application process for this funding.
We are awaiting guidance from Bowls Victoria with regards to the upcoming season and will publish this as soon as we receive it.
We look forward to seeing you all again soon, stay safe and stay in touch.
